40 man train-on squad named

Maltese Heritage Rugby League has named a 40 man train-on squad ahead of the NSWRL Under 16's Origin Harmony Cup Rugby League tournament being held at St Marys, Australia.

The train-on squad will gather at International Peace Park, Seven Hills on September 3rd for a medical and trial match under the watchful eye of head coach Tony Farr.

MRL spokesperson David Axisa said “It’s exciting to see so many players putting their hand up to represent their Maltese heritage, as we’ve had approaches from all over NSW, ACT & QLD”.

“Although, there are only 20 places for this particular tournament, we intend on building from this and introducing an annual development program for players of all ages that are of Maltese heritage”, said Axisa.

“The trial in September will ensure there is plenty of competition for players to earn their spot in the team for October 6”
