Browne to control Dove Men+Care International Series opener |

London based Australian referee Phill Browne has been appointed referee for the Dove Men+Care International series opener between Malta and Denmark this Saturday 9th June at Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun, Malta. The former Fiji Rugby League international is no stranger to Malta, having controlled the 2011 MRL nines competition and two matches involving the Malta national team against touring sides on the island since 2009.
Browne was handed his refereeing badge by the Manly Warringah Referees Association in Sydney, Australia and has also officiated at the 2007 South Pacific Games in Samoa as a touch judge and the 2011 Scandanavian Nines in Norway where he controlled group matches as well as the final. Browne commented on his appointment to referee this international, "It's an honour to be appointed referee of this international match. This will be my first full rugby league international that I've been in charge of so I'm really looking forward to this new challenge" Meanwhile, Malta’s overseas contingent of players, numbering seven, began arriving in Malta from Monday.
