Malta Rugby League
Malta eyeing new opposition

Malta’s national rugby league team, ranked 20 in the world, will play at home and abroad in 2012, according to MRL officials.

The Malta Rugby League (MRL) is in talks with officials from northern Europe who are interested in a home and away tie against the Knights.

Malta officials said “We’re looking for a strong opposition, a team that will present us with a new style of play, and a team that has achieved some good results on the field so that we can thoroughly test ourselves while giving the national team the opportunity to improve on our international ranking”

In 2011, Malta lost 36-12 to Germany in Hochspeyer and defeated Norway 64-24 at Pembroke.
