Malta Rugby League
Comets' mini field named after Bill Borg

Bill Borg, a Maltese Australian that has devoted a lifetime to rugby league in the western suburbs of Sydney, has had a field named in his honour.

The mini field, at the grounds of his home club - St Clair Comets, was named at a ceremony earlier today.

Borg has been the Secretary of the St Clair Comets Rugby League Club since 1990 and has been instrumental in the club’s growth. He is also a life member of the Penrith District Junior Rugby League Club, and has received a Centenary of Rugby League Medal, Penrith City Council Sports Achievement Award and ‘ING Volunteer of the Year’ award.

The Comets stalwart has had a hand in many major improvements to the amenities at Peppertree Reserve, including canteen and changeroom upgrades, fencing to the fields and most recently the introduction of the new mini playing field.

Distinguished guests at today's ceremony included Penrith City Councillor Greg Davies.

Malta internationals Anthony Xuereb and Ryan Borg have both played for the St Clair club.
