Ben Galea pens new one year contract with Hull KR

Hull Kingston Rovers' loose forward Ben Galea has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 31-year-old former Wests Tigers forward is contracted to stay at Craven Park until the end of the 2011 season.

He will remain on the Robins overseas quota for the time being but could gain a European passport by virtue of his Maltese family heritage in the future.

Rovers are thought to have beaten off competition from two other Super League sides to keep him in East Hull.

Galea originally the Robins from Wests Tigers on a three-year deal in September 2007.

He is the second Hull KR player to have extended his contract at Craven Park in 24 hours, following Jake Webster's new two-year deal.
