| The scene is set for Ħamrun tonight |
Malta and Norway begin their day in different surroundings ahead of tonight’s European Bowl clash at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Ħamrun. The Maltese will have a ‘relatively simple’ morning around St Julian’s while their Norwegian counterparts will hold training at Tal Handaq Boys Secondary School at Qormi. “It will be relatively simple this morning, more of a fun and laid back approach, getting among the locals, some final promotion to attract a deserving crowd to what is going to be a spectacle tonight at Ħamrun” said Malta coach Anthony Micallef. The Maltese will bring to an end their preparations around mid-morning at St George’s Bay beach with two groups of international media (Escape Photography and Rugby League World magazine) following the progress of the Maltese team, the only undefeated national team Malta has at home. Across at Qormi, a school home to over 1,000 students will welcome Norway to their second schools visit in as many days as the school allows the Norwegians to hold its final training session at the school. Last night at a pre-match function at Portside Lounge, Sliema, Rugby League European Federation (RLEF) Match Commissioner Jovan Vujosevic said he looked forward to the entry to the fold by the Maltese and Norwegians on the European rugby league circuit. Rugby league is the fastest growing sport across Europe and it is a great pleasure to be here for both Malta and Norway’s official entry into European competition” said Vujosevic. Earlier, Norway coach Warren Heilig held back no punches when he told journalists at a press conference, “If you don't like what you see tomorrow night, you don't like sport. Just...give up” said Heilig. Gates open at 6pm for tonight’s European Bowl international with kick-off set for 7pm at Victor Tedesco Stadium, Ħamrun. |
