Wheelchair Rugby League is a unique sport based expressly on Rugby League and unlike other wheelchair sports, people without disabilities are allowed to compete in top level competition. Rugby League European Federation (RLEF) Malta Development Officer Anthony Micallef said "Wheelchair Rugby has a bare existence in Malta, but along with Inspire, we are looking to resurrect the interest through Wheelchair Rugby League" Inspire Activities Manager Elaine Fenech complimented the invitation to all prospective players, saying "The invite goes to men and women of all ages and all abilities to have a go at this new sport" England won the 2008 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup defeating Australia after Frenchmen Robert Fassolette developed the game in 2004. The Malta Rugby League (MRL), in conjunction with Inspire, the Foundation for Inclusion, is looking to host a Wheelchair Rugby League Day on March 7th.
