Gateshead Thunder and Malta Knights prop Chris Parker has been named head coach of the newly formed Gateshead Storm – Newcastle Knights.

The North East Conference club is an amalgamation of the Gateshead Storm RLFC and Newcastle Knights ARLFC.

The club plays in the Summer Conference from April and September.

Parker who started his rugby league career at Newcastle Knights before moving to Gateshead Storm and then signing a professional contract with the Gateshead Thunder said “it is a great chance for me to give something back to the two clubs that have helped me progress up the rugby league ladder”

“Hopefully I can pass on some of the things I have learnt in the game and give the lads a chance to push for a place in the Thunder squad”

Parker will coach the team alongside his current playing commitments at the Gateshead Thunder.
