All students at St Theresa’s Girls Junior Lyceum of Mriehel were welcomed to take part in the introductory course to Touch Rugby League by the Malta Rugby League (MRL) over the past month focusing on key dynamics including catch, pass and kick. Up to fifteen students, aged between 12 and 15, have been learning Rugby League since November in the school’s gym. Physical Education teachers said “the students have been really enjoying Touch Rugby League” "We started with the basics of catch and pass, moving onto kicking before putting it into a game situation which the girls have been doing for the past few weeks" “It would be nice to see now, an opportunity for them to continue their involvement in rugby outside of school hours also” Rugby League European Federation (RLEF) Malta Development Officer Anthony Micallef (pictured with students, right) said “The girls have taken on the rugby fundamentals with great enthusiasm and are now looking forward to the opportunity to play competitive touch rugby league against other schools following the completion of the course” |

The Malta Rugby League has concluded introductory sessions and commenced the delivery of a six-week Rugby League course at a school in the very heart of Malta.
