Curmi, head trainer to the Sharks U20’s in Australia’s second tier, delivered warm up and tackling drills before making a guest appearance for the South in their round three Malta Rugby League Championship fixture. Curmi crossed for a hat-trick of tries that saw the South hold out the North 56 to 52 in the round three Malta Rugby League Championship tie but says he has received some master coaching himself. “I learnt it from the best in the game, the head coach of the The Sharks U20’s head trainer was satisfied with the domestic talent pool of players and singled out prop Peter Bradley (receiving ball from Chris Sammut in picture, right), “Peter stood out for me. He was so good at reading the game and very solid in defence” There was much personal satisfaction gained with Curmi saying “the whole thing was special for me” “The experience was great. I really enjoyed the coaching aspect as it was a great way to use what I have learnt from working in Australia with the Sharks and the Penrith Panthers” “The local guys have potential so as long as they get the right coaching, they will go well” |

Maltese rugby league players received some specialist coaching last week thanks to Sharks head trainer Peter Curmi who visited the island.
