| BORG SELECTED FOR EAGLES |
|
Malta eligible Paul Borg was recently selected for the NCL Eagles, the representative team for the National Conference League. For Borg, who plays for Widnes St Maries ARLFC in England, it wasn’t his first representative honours however. Borg, noted as one of the elder players in the Eagles representative team, is a former Malta Rugby Union international following his days at Widnes Rugby Union club, but has impressed since his switch to the 13-a-side game. Borg’s selection for the NCL Eagles saw him travel to Perpignan for a first fixture against France B, before concluding their tour with another international against Morocco. Officials at Widnes St Maries ARLFC, whose only player selected for the Eagles was Borg, were quick to point out that Borg is eligible for Malta following his previous international honours for the Rugby Union national team. The NCL Eagles were guests at the June 20 Super League clash at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona in Spain between Catalan Dragons and Warrington Wolves. The NCL Eagles drew their first fixture against France B 18-all at the Stade George Vaills. In the second tour match, Morocco defeated the Eagles 16-8 in Beziers. |
